We are now looking for a personable, engaging and highly motivated strategic finance leader to join our talented and committed team ahead of our Series A, leading and developing the finance function to ensure high quality financial control, FP&A and reporting on a daily basis.
The Opportunity
The Finance Director will play an integral role in the growth of the business, taking accountability of the finance functions and contributing to the overall strategic and operational direction of the business. Furthermore, the Financial Director will be responsible for building and developing a world-class finance team as well as implementing appropriate processes and governance within a fast-growing technology business.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will work closely with the senior and executive management team. It is expected that the Finance Director will quickly establish themselves as an active contributor who is willing to participate, add value, and successfully solve the challenges of a rapidly growing technology business.
Main Responsibilities
- Partner with CEO, Board and executive team on strategic planning and decision-making
- Identify and manage company funding and investment requirements and manage relations with investors and prospective investors
- Plan, coordinate and prepare updates to business plan and associated financial forecasts
- Develop financial reporting for the exec team
- Manage and report on Financial KPI and milestones
- Manage cash flow and financial forecasting
- Building a strong finance department as the business grows.
- Manage accounting, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury
- Monthly management accounts, annual statutory, balance sheet, payroll and all tax related issues
- Manage risk register and legal issues
- Ensure adequate financial systems and controls are in place to provide accurate accounting information and safeguard the Company’s assets.
Requirements
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Experience in a senior finance position within a high-growth, fast-paced deep technology environment
- Knowledge of start-up business requirements including fundraising activities, cash control, R&D grants & tax credits, and EMI options
- Experience leading the finance function through a successful series A
- Management of corporate development activities and thorough practical knowledge of working with venture capital, private equity and strategic investors
- Highly analytic approach with the capacity to influence strategic decision-making through confident, detailed analysis and cohesive argument
- Experience in leading (and/or intensive participation in the building of) a finance system and team – so you know what good looks like at scale, but can also get your hands dirty with building processes from the ground up
- Must display a talent at interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written
- Must also be able to engage and influence people at all levels of the organisation
Desirable
- Managing businesses on an international basis, including understanding of group accounting, operational and taxation structures
- Experience dealing with legal documents, commercial contracts, NDAs
- Company Secretarial experience
