We are looking for an innovative Mechanical Design Manager to join a dynamic product design team developing industry leading fiber optic switches.
About the Role
In this role you will provide technical and person-centric leadership to a small group of Mechanical Design Engineers and be a key contributor to the product development framework. With your expertise in complex electro-mechanical design and multi-physics/FEA, you will take ownership of the mechanical design process and advocate it within the organisation. You will be experienced working within a talented multi-disciplinary team, developing innovative new products and solutions from concepts to realizations. You will be a force for innovation and quality, relishing the opportunity to explore new design approaches and methodologies, and be an integral part of the technology roadmap. You will have a bias for action, with a strong focus on cost effective solutions.
About You
To be successful, you’ll need to have an advanced degree in mechanical engineering or a related subject, plus significant experience of working at a senior level in a high-tech design / development environment. You’ll have a hands-on, innovative approach to work and be self-motivated and focused on delivery. You’ll also be an expert in 3D CAD and finite element analysis and be familiar with high reliability micro-fabrication techniques. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, including the ability to present effectively, on technical subjects and negotiate with suppliers.
Experience of PDM, and proficiency in precision opto-mechanical or electro-mechanical design, is highly desirable.
