JOB DESCRIPTION

Our fast-growing innovation, insight research and design team deliver projects for some of the globe’s biggest and most innovative medical companies. We now have an exciting position available for a Healthcare Insight and Innovation Research Consultant to join the team.

The role offers a fantastic opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary, employee owned company which has the vision to improve people’s lives through innovation.

You will be responsible for undertaking research with patients and front-line healthcare stakeholders and then translating insights into new healthcare specifications, user journeys and experiences, to drive human-centred healthcare product and service innovation.

REQUIREMENTS

You will be a proactive individual with a passion for, and some experience of the following:

• Designing and implementing qualitative research programmes, including in-depth interviews, observation and focus groups.
• Engaging with patients and a broad range of frontline healthcare personnel including, doctors, surgeons, technicians and nurses on a wide range of healthcare topics
• Undertaking secondary research on healthcare topics from journal articles, clinical trial reports, intellectual property, and hospital standard operating procedures and care pathways
• Compiling, summarising and sharing your research findings both verbally and in high quality written format to clients and colleagues alike.
• Providing actionable insight for breakthrough innovation and new product development in drug delivery, medical devices and diagnostics.

You will have:

• A 2:1 degree or above in Biomedical Engineering, Medicine, Nursing or other relevant Social Science or Science with a medical focus. Other degrees may be considered on merit, and with evidence of relevant experience.
• A naturally inquisitive mind
• The empathy, drive and aptitude to explore opportunities to put people at the centre of healthcare delivery.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A willingness to travel for fieldwork for up to a week at a time (USA/Europe and beyond).
• An ability to work as part of a small team to meet deadlines while continuing to give attention to quality.
• Good knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and medical terminology
• The ability to consolidate detailed research activities into high quality, engaging and actionable reports

Knowledge of any of the following would be an advantage:

• BHBIA and MRS guidelines for primary market research.
• Clinical patient care pathways, medical conditions and patient populations
• Health economics
• Medical device product development and regulation
• Human Factors and Usability good practice
• Quantitative survey writing and reporting
