Are you currently fixing your family & friends computers & WiFi?
Do you love tinkering with computers and technology in your spare time? Do you own custom gamer PC, a Raspberry Pi, or other hobby computer? Have you tried installing Windows or Linux on an old PC or helped family & friends “speedup” their computer?
If the answer to one or more of these questions is “yes”, then you might be a good candidate to become an apprentice in Illumina’s IT team. We build maintain & support the European IT systems supporting over 500 servers and almost 10 Petabytes of storage.
We are looking for talented and enthusiastic individuals to work with twenty diverse IT professionals in High Performance Computing, Support Services, Enterprise Infrastructure, Application Support and Networking.
You will start your IT career with us in our seven-strong End User Support team where you will develop your support & communication skills whilst learning the environment, the technology we use and how Illumina operates. You will learn to support our 800+ staff across Europe using a combination of Windows and Apple systems, iPhones and Google Pixel phones, and using a variety of high tech collaboration tools. Within the first year, you will also help the team with our migration of 500 staff members to a brand new European Headquarters based in the UK Cambridge area.
As well as technical skills, by the end of three years, you will hopefully have developed the skill and confidence to work independently, diagnose and fix complex problems, and contribute your ideas or discuss your experiences in meetings. You will have a sense of working in a successful IT team and telling your friends how proud you are to be part of that.
Illumina believes that everyone has the ability to make an impact, and we are proud to be an equal opportunities employer committed to providing employment opportunity regardless of sex, race, creed, color, gender, religion, marital status, domestic partner status, age, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, pregnancy, military or veteran status, citizenship status, and genetic information.
